Really fun really neat! Though, I'd like to second eggwhites's confusion over how the spirit blocks work - if it was explained a bit more thoroughly, like how you've explained the decision-making steps for deciding how the prioritization works between equal distances, I'd probably be able to get my head around it without recording myself play a bunch of games to study after the fact. As it is, there's times I feel certain a spectral energy should be able to 'hit' something in a row or column when it actually stays a dud. I think it's the fact that they're not really supposed to 'cross' different types of spectral energy, that seems like a common thread in it?

AI difficulty also seems to scale up *really* fast, even if I set it to minimum settings, within a couple games it's already unmanageable. Makes it hard to accommodate other skill levels, despite having the sliders. If CPUs stayed at the selected skill/speed longer, or there was a 'practice mode' where you just combo til you die without an opponent, that'd be great!

Game locked me in for a while, I'm up at 2am </3 (not all of that was this game, but it kept me up trying to press on my runs... I've beaten *3* rounds in arcade, before my opponent gets too fast for me to keep up with. Junk block launches are harsh, a CPU that can send 4/5/6 whatever it is layers at me at once, when I'm still 3 layers deep from the junk launched 2 CPU blocks ago, pretty much ends the game before I can salvage it... they're *really* good at setting up huge combos)

Hello, I am enjoying the game but I was a little confused by "Spirit Blocks will absorb Spectral Energy pieces of the same color across any distance". Im not sure I have it figured out yet, but I think they absorb if they are in the same row and without a non-junk block in the way, is that correct

This is rly cool, I don't usually go to arcade games but it was very satisfying... I only beat the first stage of arcade mode b4 calling it quits, but I guess that's the point is it starts rly hard so you have a long way to improve

This was a ton of fun! We loved playing it on stream!

I LOVE PARANATURAL! Brought a huge smile to my face seeing something paranatural related!!

Gave this game another crack and MAN it's tough as nails

oh HELL yeah. always love a new vs. puzzle game, especially from my favourite game dev :)

any thoughts on expanding this in the future?

Great game, I love puzzle fighters and when I saw this game change how the block clear system works I knew this was gonna be a fun ventre

some of the audio is being edited so later there maybe some audio gaps

Keep up the good work.

Falling block jam is going to be a gamejam I am going to check out more of like I do with the bullethell and magical girl and touhou jams

Nice, it’s like Puzzle Fighter except the “flame” block can move across a distince, don’t think I’ve seen that before. Also the presentation graphics and music is top notch 👍

Two things I noticed though 1) When an Energy piece lands between 2 groups (like 1 single piece and a group of 4) it seems to randomly choose a group to destroy, sometimes the smallest. imho it should automatically pick the largest group. 2) the energy/flame pieces all have the same color, the makes it harder (or unplayable?) for people who are color blind.

Thank you for the kind words!

Regarding the feedback:
1) The direction priority isn't random, it's actually stated in the readme file and on the game's page. The priority is: bottom piece first, then the sides (toward the center first), then the top piece. I wanted to try having it prioritize larger groups but I didn't have time to mess with the mechanics as much as I'd like. I made this entire game by myself in one week

2) Accessibility concerns / colorblind-friendly options were another thing I wanted to put in but didn't have time to do. I had to make this entire game by myself in one week. Stuff like alternative palettes or a menu for rebinding controls would have taken time I didn't have. The fact that there's even volume control and a pause menu is already going above and beyond here!

so good!
